Terms of service

The agreement for using ChatHerald.

18 October 2026. These terms are the end-user licence for the ChatHerald app and cover use of chatherald.com.

The parties

ChatHerald is provided by Notified Limited, New Zealand (“we”). “You” is the Atlassian customer who installs the app, and the people that customer allows to use it. Atlassian and Google are not parties to these terms.

The service

ChatHerald is an Atlassian Forge app that posts selected Jira, Jira Service Management, and Confluence events to a Google Chat incoming webhook you configure. You need an Atlassian Cloud site and a Google Chat space where you are allowed to add a webhook.

We grant you a non-exclusive licence to use the app for your internal business, for as long as you have a valid installation. You do not receive the source code, and you may not resell the app or hold it out as your own product.

Marketplace and fees

When ChatHerald is offered on the Atlassian Marketplace as Paid via Atlassian, Atlassian bills the fees shown on that listing under Atlassian’s Marketplace terms. Pricing and free trial are shown on the Atlassian Marketplace listing (coming soon). Notified Limited does not take card payments for the app. Fees, trials, and refunds that Atlassian administers are handled by Atlassian.

If the licence is inactive, the app stays readable and keeps your rules. It does not send messages and it does not let you edit configuration. We do not delete your rules because a licence lapsed.

Your content

You keep your Jira and Confluence content. You decide which events are posted and which space receives them. You are responsible for having the right to put that content into Google Chat, and for who can read the space.

You must not use ChatHerald to send content you are not allowed to disclose, to probe or disrupt Atlassian or Google systems, or to break the law.

Availability

Delivery depends on Atlassian events, Forge, and the webhook you provided. We do not promise that every event will arrive, or that a rich card will render. Text is the default message. A schedule checks hourly and daily digests every five minutes in UTC. A dedicated Jira Service Management SLA alert is not part of the app yet (coming soon).

Support is by email to [email protected]. The mailbox is monitored on New Zealand business days. Details are on the support page.

Privacy

The privacy policy describes what the app stores and what it sends to Google Chat. It is part of these terms.

Intellectual property

We own ChatHerald, including its name and the mark on this site. You may link to these pages. You may not copy the app or use the name in a way that suggests a different product is ours.

Liability

If you acquire ChatHerald for personal, domestic, or household use, you may have rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and the Fair Trading Act 1986 that these terms cannot take away.

Where you acquire ChatHerald for business purposes, you agree the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 does not apply, to the extent the law allows that agreement. In that case, and to the extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost profits, lost data, or indirect loss, and our total liability in a claim is limited to the fees paid to Atlassian for ChatHerald in the 12 months before the claim. If no fee was paid, that cap is NZ$100.

Ending the agreement

You can stop using ChatHerald by uninstalling it. When you uninstall, Atlassian deletes the app’s Forge storage for your site under Atlassian’s data retention policy, as described in the privacy policy. ChatHerald does not run a separate clean-up step. We may suspend an installation that we reasonably believe is being used in breach of these terms. Provisions that should survive, including liability limits and governing law, keep applying.

Changes

We may update these terms by posting a new version on this page with a new date. If you keep using the app after that date, you are agreeing to the new terms. The date at the top is the date of this version.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. The courts of New Zealand have exclusive jurisdiction, except that you may still bring a claim in a forum the law requires us to accept.
